In celebration of Youth Month, the Port St Johns community came alive with excitement as MM Tshozi Inc, SYR Sajonisi Youth Radio, and the Amazing Grace Foundation hosted their annual youth soccer tournament. The event, held on June 14th, 15th, and 16th at the Port St Johns ground, drew in young soccer enthusiasts from across the region, showcasing their skills and sportsmanship.

The tournament began on Saturday with the under-14 team where the tournament involved young teams who are in need to make their stamp. One could feel the excitement at the field as the kids played with enthusiasm and committed with a smile on their faces, which could not resist the enthusiasm on their side. It was not only a soccer competition; it was the debut of youth, the fiesta of community and the affection to the soccer game.

The day of Sunday also focused on the over-14 section and the teams showed more skill and tactic. The games were intensive, and both sides struggled to win but the spirit of sportsmanship and friendship was also present all the time.

This tournament was massively successful, and this was through the presence of MM Tshozi Inc, SYR Sajonisi Youth Radio and the Amazing Grace Foundation. These organisations have been adamant and committed to supporting the youth and this was done under sports and community activities. Their yearly event has since taken center stage in their Youth Month celebrations in Port St Johns and it is an avenue where young people gather, compete and develop.

It is the role of the community to celebrate when the young people achieve success in the tournament as they did towards the end. The event not only demonstrated the talent and the commitment on part of the participants but also a sense of community support and collaboration in bringing up the leaders of tomorrow and sportsmen and women of the future and also the future.

The MM Tshozi Inc, SYR Sajonisi Youth Radio and Amazing Grace Foundation are also to be praised because they continue to support youth development via sports. Their soccer tournament held every year has become one of the favorite events in Port St Johns and it is evident that it is something that will keep Port St Johns on course for many years to come as people will get to be inspired by it.

Events like this don’t just build soccer skills they build confidence, teamwork, and a sense of belonging. The fact that both the under-14 and over-14 teams got a chance to shine shows true inclusivity and commitment to youth empowerment. Port St Johns should be proud of this initiative.
